In addition to serving on multiple corporate boards including The Honest Company and Affirm, James D. White is also now a senior advisor at Illoominus, which is his first investment in the HR tech space.
“HR tech is projected to be a $40B market, and I’m energized about Illoominus’ potential to shape the future of work,” said White. “At a time when venture funding is even tougher to come by for a woman-led startup, Illoominus secured a significant pre-seed round because of its growing traction and bright team.”
Meagan Earhart is also a new advisor at Illoominus, and we’re eager to leverage her go-to-market expertise as we scale. We’ll use this pre-seed investment to hire tech, data, and sales roles that will be critical to our growth. And learning from our customers and users, we’ll continue building models to show People Leaders which strategies and investments are best achieving their goals.

The past few years have seen an increase of attention on employee experience overall as well as initiatives to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion, which is partly what inspired the launch of Illoominus.
“Recent figures show widespread dissatisfaction among corporate employees regarding their employers’ failure to activate those initiatives,” said Gray Ventures vice president Alex Gray. “But organizations don’t have an effective way to actually see clearly which initiatives are working and which aren’t. That’s where Illoominus comes in.”
